Mark Alex, you asked, “What can’t Van Halen do?” I’ll tell you what they can’t do. Write good lyrics.

Chris Very long record (time wise), could have chopped a lot out, especially on side two. Much more stripped down sounding rock record compared to what came before it. Again like 5150 for me, some great moments, but not strong across the board. Has that chimey early 90’s guitar sound.

Alex If it wasn’t for watching the LRHRN show at a very young age idk if I’d like this album as much. Hits are huge however and I prefer the LRHRN versions of these songs. Fav tracks: “Runaround”, “Man on a Mission.”

Kevin They took some of the issues with OU812 and improved them. A few clunkers don’t bring this one down.

Love It or Flush It Legend

L = Love. As many as you like.

F = Flush. Must flush at least one track per album.

B = Buy. Purchased for the ultimate LTS “Best Of” playlist for each of us. One per album.

T = Terminate. Should have never even existed. One per album.

The Rules

Each of us must Love, Flush, Buy, and Terminate AT LEAST ONE track on an album, no matter how great or terrible the album is. Whoever wins the “7 for the Buy” section gets an extra Buy or Terminate to use on the album. Because Chris hosts this section and thus cannot win, he gets an extra Buy or Terminate every 4 albums.

Album Information

For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is the ninth studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen. It was released on June 18, 1991, on Warner Bros. Records and is the third to feature vocalist Sammy Hagar. It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and maintained the position for three weeks.

The album marked the reconciliation of the band with producer Ted Templeman, whom they had not worked with since 1984, when David Lee Roth was still lead singer.
