Quick Reviews
Mark A bit overdone; I am starting to see the Dave fan’s point here, but still one of the best summer rock albums of all time.
Chris Where they officially went from being a band of great albums, to a band of great individual moments (inconsistency takes over); couple of strong singles. Mostly feels like Billy Ocean with heavy guitars; other pop rock bands did it better.
Alex “Dreams” was my introduction to VH in 4th grade. The perfect introduction to Van Hagar and “Live Without a Net” was crucial in my youth, but 5150’s not my favorite Van Hagar album (stay tuned.) Fav tracks: “Summer Nights” – “5150.”
Kevin Catchy and memorable melodies backed by complex and interesting riffs. One of those albums where everything comes together. The ultimate summer album.

Love It or Flush It Legend
L = Love. As many as you like.
F = Flush. Must flush at least one track per album.
B = Buy. Purchased for the ultimate LTS “Best Of” playlist for each of us. One per album.
T = Terminate. Should have never even existed. One per album.
The Rules
Each of us must Love, Flush, Buy, and Terminate AT LEAST ONE track on an album, no matter how great or terrible the album is. Whoever wins the “7 for the Buy” section gets an extra Buy or Terminate to use on the album. Because Chris hosts this section and thus cannot win, he gets an extra Buy or Terminate every 4 albums.
Album Information
5150 (pronounced “fifty-one-fifty”) is the seventh studio album by American hard rock band Van Halen. It was released on March 24, 1986 by Warner Bros. Records and was the first of four albums to be recorded with lead singer Sammy Hagar, who replaced David Lee Roth. The album was named after Eddie Van Halen‘s home studio, 5150, in turn named after a California law enforcement term for a mentally disturbed person (a reference to Section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code). The 5150 name has been used several times by Van Halen. The album hit number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, surpassing the band’s previous album, 1984, which had peaked at number 2 behind Michael Jackson‘s Thriller album, on which Eddie Van Halen made a guest appearance.
