Mark Incredibly derivative. If this is what is carrying the torch for rock music in 2022, that says more about rock music than about this band, and that isn’t a good thing.

Chris While it has its issues, it is nice to have a new album with some classic sounds and an album that makes me want to pick up my guitar.

Kevin What can I say? I put on this album and enjoyed it. Some atrociously cheesy lyrics bring it down, but smart instrumental sections and some excellent melodic choices make this album a fun listen overall. I wanted to listen to it again and again.

Love It or Flush It Legend

L = Love. As many as you like.

F = Flush. Must flush at least one track per album.

B = Buy. Purchased for the ultimate LTS “Best Of” playlist for each of us. One per album.

T = Terminate. Should have never even existed. One per album.

The Rules

Each of us must Love, Flush, Buy, and Terminate AT LEAST ONE track on an album, no matter how great or terrible the album is. Whoever wins the “7 for the Buy” section gets an extra Buy or Terminate to use on the album. Because Chris hosts this section and thus cannot win, he gets an extra Buy or Terminate every 4 albums.

Album Information

Impera is the fifth studio album by the Swedish rock band Ghost. Released on 11 March 2022, it was produced by Klas Åhlund who also produced the band’s 2015 album, Meliora. The release of Impera was preceded by three singles: the first, “Hunter’s Moon“, was released on 30 September 2021 in support of the 2021 slasher film Halloween Kills and is featured as part of the film’s soundtrack; the second single, “Call Me Little Sunshine”, was released on 20 January 2022 and the third, “Twenties”, was released on 2 March 2022.

The theme of Impera mainly focuses on “the rise and fall of empires”. The album received widespread critical acclaim.
